March Challenge @ Kraft It Up!

I am just loving using Kraft cardstock. It's soooo versatile.

While blog hopping the other week I came across the Kraft It Up! blog. Each month they have a very simple challenge where the criteria is to use Kraft on a LO and one other thing. This month it is to use a mixed alpha title. Very simple.

Well last night I finished mine. I had this started before last weekend and then got engrossed in the ScrapTherapy CyberCrop so finally got it finished tonight.

I have been wanting to scrap these pics of Ethan eating his first ever lollypop after visiting Father Christmas at the local shopping centre. I have also been dying to paint a background. So why not combine the two.

I have used Kraft as my background paper. Painted it with yellow paint first and then black. Mounted the middle photo on black bazzil and raised it up on pop dots.
I have used some chippie Thickers and painted them the same yellow as the background and teamed them with some black foam thickers. I finished off with some KaiserCraft rubon brackets and handwritten journalling.

La Di Da birthday presents

It's my dear friend Barbs birthday today. I really wanted to make her something for her birthday. I knew that she loved the KaiserCraft La Di Da range so decided to use that.
I decided to make her a notepad set. I altered a notebook and decorated one of the new KaiserCraft memo pads. I really wanted to do a pencil holder as well but couldn't find the one I wanted in time.

Here's the set complete with card.

CyberCropping @ ScrapTherapy

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, but I have been busy. Family lifes been busy with nothing important this week. Plus I have been taking part in the CyberCrop over at ScrapTherapy this last weekend.
I am loving the CC's. Such a great way to learnt new things and to scrap outside of your comfort zone.
The girls have come up with some awesome challenges for this month.

I managed to complete two of the four challenges. I miss read the Sketch Challenge but completed the LO anyways.

Photobucket

I wanted to do the Inspiration Challenge with some pics of our visit to Monarto Zoo in 2007 but the kiosk where I normally print my pics wasn't playing ball, so that didn't happen.

I did complete the Theme Challenge, I used the sketch from the Sketch Challenge as insipration.
For this challenge we had to use a recycled/found item on our page and use some form of distressing.
I cut up the pair of jeans that Ethan was wearing in the photo and used the pocket to store my journalling tag, and I also added the fly cover as an embelly. I have distressed the edges of all the pp's and the photo.

I also completed the Card Challenge. We had to create at least two cards using scraps. We could use new cardstock for our card bases though. I used the scraps left opver form my How Sweet it is... LO.

Here is the LO

Recent ScrapTherapy Challenges

Thought I'd share some projets that I have done so far this year.

First up is a LO for Marchs Journalling Challenge over at ScrapTherapy. The challenge was to journal around your page. I love this type of journalling but hadn't tried it before.
My journalling says "You absolutely LOVE your sunhat that you affectionately call your 'Yat'. Love toddler speak! You are so good when we go outside you line up to have your hat and sunscreen applied. This particular day you had a nap in just your nappy. When you woke you insisted on wearing your hat and refused to get dressed. Feb 2010".
I have used Kraft as my background. I just love Kraft paper, it's awesome!

The next set of projects are what I completed for ScrapTherapys February Cyber Crop.
First up is the Card Challenge. I used KaiserCrafts La Di Da range for two cards but can only show youone right now. The other is a card for a friend and I have a special project planned to go with it. Will share when I can.

Second is my entry in the Sketch Challenge. I love the DCWV Glitter Stack paper that I have used as a background.

Finally is my entry in the Theme Challenge. As soon as I read Lisas challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I really wanted to use a Kraft background and revisit my primary school years and thin down some paint and flick it with a toothbrush for the background. I also wanted to recreate lift the flaps like in kids books. Ethans loving them atm.
I was pleasantly surprised to be voted 3rd for this catergory!.

Crafty Day @ Jodies!

Today I met a new crafty friend. Jodie is a good friend of my friend Barb. It was Jodie's birthday today so to celebrate we went out to Jodies brand spanking new house at Inman Valley. Such a gorgeous house full of fancy gadgets.

I took along my latest order from ScrapTherapy full of new My Minds Eye Quite Contrary Little Boy Blue and Jack & Jill papers and embellies to play with.
Here's a pic of the stuff I received.

This pics a little blurry sorry.

Here are the layouts I made. Well I nearly made. I completed the first one, but had forgotten some bits for the second one so finished it off when I got home.

First LO is for ScrapTherapy's Monthly Colour Challenge. The colours for this month were Kraft, Chocolate, Olive and Rain. I struggled a little with adding rain in. It's not too bad, but think I could have done better. Love this pic though.

The second LO is for the Sketch Challenge at Scrapbook Savvy this month. I handmade the stitched heart for this one.

I also made this birthday card for Jodie. I'll enter it in the Surprise Challenge over at ScrapTherapy. We had to use up the scraps that were on our desk to make a card. Well being a tidy scrapper my desk was clear. So I got out my leftovers from my Nanna's Garden LO.

We had a lovely day. Jodies daughter Summer enjoyed playing with all the stamps and punches. While Ethan had a ball with Jodies son Caydens trucks and cars. Eli just chilled as usual. We enjoyed a lunch of vegie quiche and choccy brownies, mmmmmm.

We are going to try and make this day a regular thing. Can't wait to see what we do next time!

How far have I come?

Thought I'd make my first post with pics about where I started and where I am right now.
I had been wanting to scrap for years, but didn't really know where to start. My good friend Jo was right into scrapping and offered to help. Well eventually I got started, well sort of. We started with making christmas tags one year, and I never finished them.
Then I wanted to make my own address book, started that then the chipboard buckled with the glue and I gave up.
When Ethan was born my sister gave me an 8x8 baby scrapp booking album and matching phto frame so I made an earnest start. I foolishly decided I was scrap chronologically. My fist page was of us finding out I was pregnant.
Jo came with my to my local lss, Album Memories, in Port Elliot and help my hand the whole way. I had no idea what I wnated to do or even where to start. I had bough some el cheapo papers form the local $2 store. Not great quality but they were nice enough. 'We' decided to go with a green colour scheme. It turned out quite good. I thought I was so clever printing on vellum and then attatching it with eyelets!

We're Pregnant1

We're Pregnant2

From then on both mine and Jo's lives became quite hectic so I didn't have Jo to hold me hand as much anymore. I kept putting off scrapping because Jo wasn't there, but in the end I gained the confidence to do it myslef. I started searching the net and buying some mags for ideas.
I'm quite happy as to how far I have come so far. But I have sooooo much more to learn. I have started taking part in CyberCrops and Monthly Challenges, and they have really helped me to grow as a scrapper.
This is a pic of one of my latest pieces of work. It's for March's Sketch Challenge over at ScrapTherapy.
